The Ride

TOMRV is the Tour of the Mississippi River Valley, a Midwest cycling tradition now in its 45th year. Every year bicycling enthusiasts from across the country come to ride the TOMRV tour. They enjoy a ride on scenic paved roads, through Midwest farmland, and along the Mississippi River. The TOMRV team is working to provide you with a ride that will be enjoyable, and as well-organized and supported as you have come to anticipate.

We will gather in Bettendorf Iowa on Friday evening, June 10, at the Isle Hotel/Casino in Bettendorf. This is Iowa’s largest hotel on the banks of the Mississippi river. The Isle Hotel/Casino Bettendorf will be our “hub” for the weekend and riders may stay there as well as other hotels in the Quad City region. Check the TOMRV website for QC area hotel information.

Packet pick-up will be in the St. Croix room of the North Tower. Packet pick-up hours will be Friday, June 10, 4:00 PM-8:00 PM, Saturday, June 11, 5:30 AM-8:00 AM, and Sunday, June 12, 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM. On Friday evening, a cash bar will be in the lobby of the North Tower, outside of the packet pick-up area. Please feel free to use this area to meet up with friends, check out the TOMRV information boards, or to relax a bit before you head off to dinner.

Saturday morning, June 11, 2022, we will leave Bettendorf, with riders making their choice of a century route or a shorter route. Both rides will return to the Isle hotel in Bettendorf on Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning, we will leave the Isle hotel and return to the Isle hotel, but there will be 2 new routes. Again, one will be a century route and the other will be a shorter route. The routes will be varied and scenic, using paved roads. There will be views of the Mississippi River as we ride along it, over it on bridges, and find ourselves on some bluffs. The 2022 routes will include some new points of interest. Note: all routes will start outside of the North Tower of the Isle Hotel.

Riders may choose to ride both days, or only one day (either Saturday or Sunday). We will provide Saturday and Sunday morning packet pick-up for one day riders who do not pick up packets on Friday evening. Note: the TOMRV registration fee will be the same for both 2-day and 1-day riders. Check the QCBC.org/TOMRV website for registration times.

Camping is discussed in the Overnight in the Quad Cities section below.

The Quad Cities Bicycle Club provides many rest stops along the routes with food and refreshments for registered riders. Drinks and snacks may also be purchased in towns along the way.

Note: As in years past, we will be offering TOMRV jerseys for sale, as well as extra t-shirts. We will be offering a TOMRV 45 (2022) patch this year. At this time, we do not anticipate offering a patch again until TOMRV 50 (2027).

If you decide after you have completed your registration that you would like to order a jersey, patch, extra t-shirt, etc, you may do so by using the TOMRV on-line store. Access this at: getmeregistered.com/TOMRVJersey.

New for 2022!
1. We will be offering a Mini-TOMRV social ride for TOMRV spouses, friends, etc. The ride leader will be Ride Director Cindy Bottrell and there will be other QCBC members to assist. This ride will be offered on Saturday, 9:30 AM, near the door to the North Tower. Mileage of about 20 miles, maybe a bit more or a bit less. Speed will be about 10-13 miles/hour average but may be adjusted to fit the group. The group will re-group as needed, with a few restroom stops. Riders will need to wear helmets and carry water bottles. Snack bars will be provided. The routes will follow the riverfront paths, stops will be made at various locations of interest, and we will have lunch (rider pays for own lunch) near the end of the ride. Sign-up on this GetMeRegistered site. The registration fee is $25.00 and includes a TOMRV t-shirt and a wristband to provide admission into the Saturday Happy Hour and some points of interest along the route. Be sure to sign the ride waiver.

2. Riders will be able to support a community-sponsored fundraiser breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday.

3. TOMRV is a major fundraiser for the QCBC. Each year, a portion of the registration fees is donated to various bicycle-related groups. If you would like to make an extra donation, you may do so by clicking on the make a donation while you are registering or return to the registration page or on-line store later to do so.

4. The massage team will be offering their services on both Saturday and Sunday. Location will be the Antiqua room near the North Tower lobby. Anticipated hours will be Saturday, 10:00 AM-9:00 PM and Sunday, 9:00AM-3:00 PM. Note: closing time on Sunday may be earlier depending on need; sign-up on Saturday to ensure a time. This is a separate fee outside of the registration fee.

After your ride on Saturday, a Happy Hour with music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, snacks and a cash bar will be waiting for you at the Isle hotel. Your TOMRV wrist band will be your admission ticket. Afterwards, riders may also choose to eat dinner at the Isle Hotel/Casino Bettendorf restaurant or meet their friends for dinner at a local restaurant of their choice. The Quad Cities area has a nice selection of restaurants. You may also want to check out the QC Ale Trail (https://qcaletrail.com).

This is TOMRV, a tradition of good riding, good scenery, varied terrain, good food, and an overall good time. If this is for you, then plan to ride with us this year.

Please visit www.qcbc.org/tomrv/ for more information. Also check out the TOMRV Facebook page (TOMRV, TOMRV 45, or tomrv).

Jersey

We will be using Voler jerseys. We used Voler in 2017 and 2019-2021. If you participated in TOMRV in any of those years, and ordered a jersey, please use that as a guide when ordering. Note: the sleeveless jersey is a hybrid fit. That means it is between the race and club fit. Take that into consideration when you order a sleeveless jersey. Women's jerseys will have a relaxed hem. Men's jerseys will have a gripper hem. All jerseys will have a full-length, covered zipper. You may want to visit the Voler website (Voler.com) to look at sizing guidelines before ordering.

Order a jersey before the cut-off date and receive the jersey in your packet. The cut-off date is April 6, at 11:59 p.m. If you register after April 6 (including at packet pick-up), you may order a jerse at packet pick-up. Those jerseys will be ordered from Voler after the event and will be mailed to you in July. We do not plan to have extra jerseys to sell on registration day; therefore, selecting the best size for you is important.

T-Shirts

Again this year, our t-shirts are a lightweight ring spun cotton that looks great and is comfortable to wear. Sizing is fairly true. Every rider gets one t-shirt included in their registration, but you can order additional t-shirts. We have size XS which will fit many children as well.

If you desire to order additional t-shirts, the cut-off date for ordering will be May 1, 11:59 p.m. We expect to have some t-shirts for sale at packet pick-up, but sizes cannot be guaranteed. We need to provide registered riders and volunteers with shirts first. then the extras can be sold.

2022 Patch

Order a TOMRV 45 (2022) patch. Price is $10.00 each. We will be offering a TOMRV 45 (2022) patch this year.
At this time, we do not anticipate offering a patch again until TOMRV 50 (2027).
